I downloaded the pdfcreator about 30 minutes ago and tried it out. I must say everything looked pretty good but there was one major issue - none of the text appears!
The document is a Word document with a black background (set behind text) and white text. Other sections with image backgrounds but with black text also have the same problem. Yet, text in textboxes appears.
When I select text to copy, the highlighted portions did show text being selected.
Can anyone tell me what might be wrong?

I don't know if it can help you but i had the same problem with graphics on excel files. THe pdf was created with pdf creator but only data sheets. SO i try to print in PS files and then in PDF. All the excel file was here.
