PDFCreator vs GhostScript

What is the need for PDFCreator, which uses ghostscript, if the ghostscript already has the ps2pdf conversion tool and in conjunction with any PS printer driver can convert any application document into pdf?

Yah I can print documents to the PDFCreator printer w/o pdfcreator.exe installed

So I think that it would be possible to do this BUT you still need some glue code that will pass the correct arguments ghostscript that tells it the pdf file name & the other options settings author keywords etc

You are certainly right about what you are saying. I too had that same problem with the software at first. I then saw all the optimizations and all the code I could reuse and I was sold. Yet, I still have some problems with PDFCreator, like the fact it is written in MSVB which really bothers me. Anyway, I'll keep on using it until someone or myself comes up with something better.

The fact that we are using VB bothers us as well ;-)

It just was started some time ago in that language and has evolved...

Certainly, there is no special need to have PDFCreator, when you have installed Ghostscript, searched and installed a PostScript printer and have an easy way to have the desired settings applied to the conversion process.

Basically this is what PDFCreator is for: it does the work for you. It is a single installtion for everything you need to start and it provides an easy interface for the GS parameters.
