File not found: gsdll32.dll

Hello,

Sometimes i'm getting "error 53 (File not found: gsdll32.dll)" using version 0.9.9.

Apparently it has something to do with the "Stampstring" without stamp i never get the error.
The error does occur 1 out of 3 times.

When looking with Proces Monitor you can see pdfcreator looking for gsdll32.dll in the program directory root. When i place a copy of the dll over there i get error 7 out of memory.

Already tried regsvr32 gsdll32.dll but doesn’t work (entry not found)

The error exist on 5 pc's, they all had a working 0.9.8 version before.
All 5 are Windows XP Sp3 workstation with updates installed.
Users are mixed administrative and restricted users.

Any advice?

Thx

Hi !

I got the same error message when I tried to use the new fonctionality of profile. I created a new profil (with or without stamp) and when I want to use it with our own CRM this message appear :

If I try to use this new profil with Word, it works perfectly.

As putteken, if I put gsdll32.dll in the main directory of PDFCreator, I get this message :

Is there someone could help me ?

Thanks.

 Same issue over here.

I went ahead and installed the Ghostscript from;

http://ghostscript.com/releases/gs871w32.exe

It now has the gsdll32.dll withing the "C:\Program Files (x86)\gs\gs8.71\bin" directory and even PDFCreator will detect it as installed.

Yet, still no go, :-(

Open for ideas.

I never had that problem with .9.8 but am having it with .9.9.

Vector lines and a photo overlaid with a white rectangle partially.

The only way I got it to work was to open the printer window from the menu. Then it showed the file listed as printing. Double clicking on the file name got it to run.

Seems to work with gs8.64 (32 bits).

Not with the 64 bits one (I guess the pdforge is a 32 bits program and when running withing the wow64 it can not make calls to native 64 bits helpers/applications).

(one step closer to heaven).

Just simply download this .dll and save it in the {root}/windows/system32

Hi,

yes, if dll is copied in system32, PdfCreator founds it, but, as already mentioned by someone else, it doesn't work better... since it generates an Error 7

It would be also possible to copy the dll in Progral Files\pdfcreator... but exactly same result.

Still no solution to this problem?

version 1.0.2 gives me same error.

Starting to look for an alternative.

Any suggestions?

I managed to get it working by separately installing Ghostscript 8.54, then going into the options menu on PDF Creator and telling it to use that version.

It threw up an error but seemed to save the setting and works now when adding stampstrings.

Couldn't get this to work on Windows 7 (PDFCreator 1.0.2). The Ghostscript Version field was blank and putting in an Additional searchpath to the DLL which I put on the system would not do it either.

Then I downloaded a 1.0.1 and it worked right away.

I am getting the same error, I was not getting it on a previous version. I had to download the new version because I had to format my hard drive from a horrible virus I could not get rid of.

I don't know what to do, I am not very good with computers. Is there a very simple fix? I did try to uninstall and re-install it but it didnt help.

The way it is now, I can't use the program :-(

Please help. Thank you.

John

Hey everyone,

Try to install with custom install rather than minimal install. Just make sure the ghostscript gets checked with whatever install settings you choose

With the latest version (1.2.1), using a custom installation that includes all the binary components and only English for Help and User Interface language, as already reported, the problem occurs when from Options->Program->Document a non-empty stamp-string is used.

As it turns out, if the PDF Print Monitor is running (get this by starting PDFCreator minimized; you'll see the monitor icon in the system tray), the problem does not occur. So a work-around would be the following:

   1. copy the PDFCreator shortcut to the Desktop
   2. "Right-click"->Properties and select to run minimized
via "Shortcut" tab -> Run: -> Minimized
   3. Copy this into the "Startup" menu folder and delete it
       from the Desktop

Installing an external version of gs and switching to it from Options->Program->Ghostscript may or may not work (works with 8.x, does not with 9.x).

Architecture here is 32-bit XP-SP3

Confirm exactly the same bug with environment/setup as Dmitri.

I confirm the observations of dbouras

Until now, I used PDFCreator simply by selecting it as a printer at the time I wanted to create a .pdf file.

Then recently, I wanted to try the (very interesting) possibility to add a stamp to a document, and was then confronted to that error message saying that gsdll32.dll was missing.

By trial and error, I reached the same conclusions as dbouras:

if a non empty Stampstring is declared, then PDFCreator must be launched prior to attempting to print.

Same behaviour on a PC with XP-SP3 and anotherone with Windows 7 Professional, PDFCreator 1.2.3 in both cases
