my thoght on that: The notifications are checked each hour. Until they are all sent, it takes a few minutes. The next mail is scheduled for "24 hours later", i.e "5 past midnight + 24 hours". At midnight the next day it sees "ah, nothing to do now, next job is 0:05". Then they are sent at 1am and so they move on.
I will check that when I am working on that module. But that does not appear to be a really important problem ;-)
