Why supporting nothing above PDF 1.4 (2001)?

When PDF is an open standard and even the latest version of the file format, PDF 1.7, is from 2006.

Just wondering.

PDFCreator 0.9.5 supports PDF version 1.5. Higher versions are not supported because Ghostscript doesn't support these versions.
