Maintain Original Document Size

Submitted by roxie2401 on Sun, 2008-07-06 13:44.

How can I keep pdfCreator from adding additional "white space" or increasing the margins to my doucments?

When I create the PDF, pdfCreator adds space at the top (and bottom), which changes the appearance of the original material.

Is there an option that I have missed that will keep the original document size?

Also, if I create a PDF of a scanned document (say a utility bill), pdfCreator always make it a fixed paper size (say 8.5 x 11). If I use cutePDF or PrimoPDF they both create the PDF file the same size as the original - whatever the scanned size, that is the size of the PDF.

How do I get rid of this extra white space?

I far perfer pdfCreator but I want the document to retain the original size.

Am I missing something?

Frank,

I typically use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and these documents, especially Word, will have additional white space added when pdfCreator creates the corresponding pdf file.

Also, I scan using Epson Twain and this results in a jpg file that I convert to pdf with pdfCreator - this is the case with utility bills (electricty, water, etc.) that are usually small size (maybe 7" x 5" high) and these turn out to be 8.5 x 11, not 5" if I use pdfCreator.

However, if I use CutePDF, these scanned files (jpg) turn out to be the exact size as the original, not 8.5 x 11, but 7 x 5, with no additional white space or margins added.

Please let me know if you want me to send you an examples of the resulting pdf files - one created with pdfCreator and the same image created with CutePDF.

Thanks for the prompt response.
