Maintain Original Document Size

How can I keep pdfCreator from adding additional "white space" or increasing the margins to my doucments?
When I create the PDF, pdfCreator adds space at the top (and bottom), which changes the appearance of the original material.
Is there an option that I have missed that will keep the original document size?
Also, if I create a PDF of a scanned document (say a utility bill), pdfCreator always make it a fixed paper size (say 8.5 x 11). If I use cutePDF or PrimoPDF they both create the PDF file the same size as the original - whatever the scanned size, that is the size of the PDF.
How do I get rid of this extra white space?
I far perfer pdfCreator but I want the document to retain the original size.
Am I missing something?
I am having the exact same problem also. I print a 1 page Excel file and the margins are set to about .25 inches. On printer it is fine. When I print to PDFCreator i get almost an inch margin.
