PDFCreator 2.2.0 supports Admins with Group Policies

Hamburg, Germany, October 28, 2015

pdfforge, the company behind PDFCreator and PDF Architect, has released PDFCreator 2.2. The main focus of this release is to increase stability and to support administrators in their daily business with PDFCreator. The biggest new feature is that PDFCreator Plus for Business now supports fully managed group policies. PDFCreator Plus for Business is the commercial edition of PDFCreator (see prices at the bottom).

Group policies
PDFCreator Plus for Business can now be configured with (fully managed) group policies. This is a first version of what is planned and does not allow full control over every single setting. Instead, PDFCreator contains policies to modify certain areas. Admins can now disable individual settings tabs in the application settings (Printers, Title, Debug) to prevent users from changing settings there. The access to the application and profile settings can be disabled completely. It is also possible to disable some informational screens and the update check. A full guide to the Group Policies can be found under (1).

New Features
When using the "E-Mail" button from the print window, PDFCreator now opens the converted documents in the E-Mail client without the need to select a location on the hard drive, as it has been in the past. The files will be stored in a temporary location and removed, when the mail has been sent.

The COM interface is no longer in "beta" status and considered ready for production. From now on, it will be versioned in a way, that changes to the interface will not break interface bindings in the client application. If breaking changes are required, they will be performed in a different version of the interface that is deployed along the original version to stay compatible.

PDFCreator now also comes with an updated version of the print monitor, which has some improvements on Terminal Servers and also fixes a bug that could cause PDFCreator not to open under certain conditions.
