Auto-save encrypted PDF without user interaction

Submitted by Felix01 on Mon, 2007-02-05 10:56.

Hi,

I have been looking at PDFCreator for use as part of a Document Management System project.

We require that normal users cannot print the documents from the system, therefore I propose to use encrypted PDFs.

I have modified the code so that PDFCreator will create a random owner password when the Auto-save mode is switched on. This means that no user interaction is required.

While I was doing this I found that there are registry settings for Owner & User passwords however they do not seem to be used. Maybe they are just temporary storage?

It was _very_ easy to make my modifications which was nice.
If anybody is interested I can share them.

Philip, if you are interested let me know and I will talk to you about getting them properly implemented e.g. with a user interface option for 'Random Owner Password'.

Felix
